Feel free to explore the link above where we explain the difference between the Momentum and the Resurgence.  This piece will also show you microscopic images of each of these two New Era balls vs. our M80 cover of the past.

So if I took a Momentum and sanded it with 1000 Abralon, would its surface still be smoother than the Resurgence? In this scenario...the Momentum...would it still get more length than the Resurgence? Would it be noticeable to most bowlers?

Yes, you will see more overall hook because this shell will have more energy off the spot and yes it will be noticeable to most bowlers.  

The shell technology isn't from the same family tree as I hope you can see in the piece.
