Just ordered an EPX T1 . . .

from MGbowling.com.

How does the ball handle carrydown?

Besides my Sport League, I'm bowling in a house that strips once a week.
They oil before each league, and there is massive carrydown.
I bowl following a handicapped league (ramp bowlers, plastic balls, etc.), the shot is a challenge (to say the least).

Any layout ideas...Most posts I've read, recommend strong, stacked drillings.

Ouch!  I paid $100 shipped for each of mine from eBay.

Follow the drill sheet carefully.  Do not drill it weak.  Mine is stacked leverage and I love it.

ball is discontinued... might be saying something with columbia doing that... maybe.. its a dud... i would say send it back and get ur money back

EPX is a try at something great and i would say its a flop... or... just definitely not worth the high price..

Well Duke I would agree with Sir bowl Alot. Sherm there is only one site saying that the EPX is discontinued probably to try and move them.  There may have been a slight problem in the very first batch produced but they have since bought out several more batches of them.  Just use the intructions that come with the ball.  Columbia does recomend the Hot water bath to release the extra plastiser and oil from the ball.

I would also say to drill this ball very strong. I know many people who get a ball that is intended to be a strong ball but they drill it to weak and try to use it on heavy oil and it then doesnt work and they then complain about the ball not doing what it was ment to do and that it S[_]CKS. So drill it complet for complet max hook for the way you roll.

Ball rolls through ANY carry down.. and ANY heavy oil period..

Justmake sure you know about bleeding the ball in hot water after 30 games

As for your purchase, take a look at the drill sheet that should accompany your new EPX T1:

I am most def a strongly speed dominant bowler so I chose the "Strong" drilling for that class which was stacked leverage.  This thing ignores the oil and hits like a tank!  The ball makes errant shots look like gold.  Just make sure you are not on fried heads or on a very short pattern.

I've did a lot of research on the ball. I bowl in a Sport League, and tonight, one lefty and one righty on the opposing team used the EPX, ball ignored the oil. The lefty rolled the ball with the boards, and the ball obliterated the pins. The righty had area like you wouldn't believe. I no the right-handed bowler, and he used it down in Corpus Christi, ball reacted great. It really has my attention.

I don't know about anyone else, but I'm averaging over 220 with mine since I got it drilled.  It single-handedly pulled me out of my slump.  If it cracks then I know Columbia will take care of it since my teammate had one that cracked and Columbia replaced it with a ball of his choice.  Besides, I have another one NIB waiting for just such an occasion.

I threw 3 practice games on leftover slop with a lot of carrydown, and was impressed with the ability the EPX had going through carrydown....Ball is a totally different animal than resin, particle, or urethane.

I had the ball drilled stacked. (3-3/8 x 3-3/8) with a weight hole, a little below my pap. The ball does not quit.

I'm definitely happy that I made the purchase.

Bob, I think the ball fits into a notch. I couldn't see using it on a THS. Being a lefty, I think it will work well on certain conditions, where the shot is tougher, and I'm the only lefty on the lanes. Ball cost about $200 drilled, and hopefully it will pay for itself.

I wonder if Columbia is still refining the coverstock? I think it could eventually become another good alternative tool for tournmanet bowlers.
