Well Cb,
I'm not gonna jump on you for your opinion and truthfully, I ask myself the same question. In my mind, pros that are on staff to make ball company's products look good. And for a majority of PBA fans that comes through Sunday's telecasts, having stated that, just bowling in the PBA events and have a great look with bad breaks isn't seen by us(fans). For the big $$$ that Barnes is getting, I don't think he is worth it. Sure Columbia has their commercial about him and how much money he has made with their equipment, but for a new fan <2 seasons, would be like "who is that guy??"
But if you think about it, every ball company has someone on their staff that is guaranteed to give them that FREE(well not really free b/c they pay the pros. But not for TV time) publicity on TV.
Storm- PDW, Ryan Shafer
Morich- Walter Ray
Brunswick- Parker Bohn, Mika, Sean Rash(newbie), and Brad Angelo
Ebonite- Tommy Jones, and more than likely Patrick Allen
Hammer- Doug Kent, Tony Reyes
Track- Wes Malott
Now, these are the people that you have seen on TV, are they not? And the comment comes up that consumers only want skid/flip balls...well that is what is on TV...You have seen all of the aforementioned staffers, but the only place you can see Barnes is in commercials and Skills challenges. Now before any goes bashing me, I am not a Chris Barnes hater, I actually like him. But the question wasn't about liking or disliking. It was whether or not he is worth the money that he gets from Columbia and IMO, I do not believe so.
