Question about the Rival
« on: March 27, 2008, 12:09:07 AM »
I was just curious what your thoughts were on the Rival? It's been suggested to me that I use this as my benchmark ball.

Thanks

Most versatile ball I've ever thrown, can use it on just about anything except a total flood or a complete desert.

Agree that the Rival is easily a true "benchmark" ball! I polished mine to give it more length, and a more defined turn at the back, and can use it going up the boards, or swinging it if the conditions require. Very versatile, and user friendly on at least 80 percent of the conditions you will see.

I just ordered one today.  I don't know what "benchmark" ball means but  I asked my coach/driller what he thought about what I should get after telling him what I was looking for in a ball.  He suggested this as one of the balls, in addition to the Anger or GameBreaker.  I chose this because I personally favored it and have wanted it since it came out, in addition to its versatility of course.  Mine is going to have a shorter pin because I wanted mine to have strong midlane recovery.  I'm hoping for it to work out so that it's smoother than a typical pearl but not quite as continuous as a dull ball.  From the videos I've seen, it should do that pretty well.
