big shot

How do you think the big shot polished would work on lighter conditions? Personally I like more aggressive balls on lighter oil because I can stand around 40 and throw it with some speed.

am curious about the big shot myself - currently have a columbia big bully - I'm a low rev bowler slowing getting my revs up - have my avg up to 191 and still rising - consistently hitting 600 series now - I switched from conventional to fingertip in June 2005 - after 15 years of mostly rec bowling and about 5 yrs of league experience as a straight bowler.  Despite that - I've seen and tried a lot of different balls in the last 3 years.  Note:  I've outshot 200+ bowlers on  patterns they couldn't adjust their heavy hookers so believe me I've had to work for my average and learned a lot about patterns, lines, reaction points, and coverstocks in use.  Working with my local pro - the Big Bully was drilled for a smoother back-end and I've been amazed at how this ball reacts on different lane conditions - dry - medium oil - heavy oil.  It's easy for me to make my adjustments and find the right line for the different conditions.  While I leave a lot of corner pins because of the smoother roll - I've also had a number of notap 300's - something I couldn't even come close to before.  Also I leave very few splits - and when I do it's because of a mistake I made - not the ball.  The Ball needs cleaned about every 50 to 60 games to keep adjustments consistent.  I'm now looking for a ball/drill pattern to complement it - one with a sharper reaction especially with the medium and heavy oil patterns.  My past experience with ebonite was awful - so it's surprising I'm seriously looking at the angular one - the jury is still out on the nv.  The action max and power machine also have my attention.  not going to make a purchase until probably late march/early april - am interested what experience others have with these new balls

I'm gonna get one....eventually.  I might polish it as well, just incase the reaction is too similar to the Black Widow that I have.

i drilled a big shot for a friend of mine and it rolls really good. put the pin above his ring finger and 4" away from his PAP and the cg in a 70* position. it is close to being stacked. we bowled on a synthetic pattern and the ball went down lane really well and made a nice turn at the breakpoint and carried pretty well. the ball did have a tendency to squirt out at times if it was pushed(pattern was tighter on some lanes), so he just picked up his action attack and that would get him a better read on the midlane. so some may want to alter the surface a little bit if they are on tighter lanes. over all, a great compliment to the attack and i am impressed with the reaction of the ball. it is a different look than what columbia has had out lately.
