Momentum jury's still out
« on: December 07, 2007, 07:44:05 AM »
Well i picked it up last night and had to go throw it on fairly medium-lighter lanes with lots of carrydown. I bowled on a pair after a huge b-day party of little kids, ball had decent length oob but struggled to even make pocket.

Drilled my standard 4 1/2 pin under ring and cg stacked below 2 1/2 inches no weight hole, i am knocking off the factory finish for tonight's league which will start out medium-heavy fresh.

Overall it was pretty weak not impressive at all, if you are heavy handed i have a feeling it would be a great ball. I also threw a XSpower drilled exactly the same and it had to be hit with a grey pad to also pickup the mid's quick enough. The momentum showed signs of wanting to turn hard every shot but actually backed off sometimes which put me in quandry of if it is a really a strong ball hiding under that really glossy shine to make it pretty.

I also had a pin over ring Anger with me that hooked circles around both of these balls, so be fair the carrydown was enourmous in each ball's defense.

So if it was me i would wait until real users post about real results, staffers to me are source of knowledge but have you ever seen one say the ball is overhyped??? It might be over hyped give me another set after getting all the shine off this puppy.

Sorry could not post much the last few days had to switch internet carriers from too much drama with the old one.

The 1k box finish was perfect for me on the fresh shot, i think 2k would even work well but for now it stays 1k. It left me some 4 pins and only 1 ten pin the entire set so it does hit somehwat different then most balls out there.

Would i run out to buy it well no i would not, is this something totally different than anything else out there well for me again the answer is no.

Good ball for sure with the surface adjustment great ball well too early to say either way, i should have the twisted fury by monday night so we will see if it so special another hype ball.

Barry,

sorry to hear you don't like the Momentum. I used mine this morning and love it.. I think the drilling you have on yours is whats causing you problems.. Just my opinion..

Pin over Ring, CG at 100 degrees (recommended) on Resurgence, sucked for me. I am getting a Momentum tonight and will Not use the recommended. I will put the pin down and 75 degree or so.

You have to understand when to use it and if the layouts for for your style.  I assume you're referring about the #2 layout.  This layout is for the guys with high rev rates to use on drier conditions.
For the Momentum use a Pin above or below ring finger and place the MB 40 - 60 degreees.

there is no marked mass bias on the momentum or resurgence..

You can measure 6 3/4" from the pin through CG to get the location of the MB assumed position.

I know that but I was just saying there is no marked mass bias or mention of it in the drilling instructions..

I only read original post and NONE of the responses.

BUT...anytime I see a symmetrical ball and read the following.

"For league conditions" or "strong arc" I think this ball is for a fresh top hat with big backends.  It will not typically work on carrydown.

For those conditions I take out one of bad boy assymetrics with a strong mass bias drillings and watch that thing plow thru the slop in the back.

Ebonite Xcels, Nsane Lev, Awesome revs....Black Widows fire away and goodbye slop!

Just my impressions...
