Momentum Swing thoughts...
« on: December 07, 2009, 01:25:35 AM »
Im curious how many here use this ball...i got one at a very good price on Ebay, and drilled it 4 1/2" x 3 no xtra hole. This ball is very condition specific, its really hard off the dry, especially when its dry to the right. BUT, when i try to move in to bounce off the dry its really over under. Right now i have it at 1000 grit with some storm reacta-shine over top of it, and i had it at 2000 no polish as well. i didnt like either looks. Is this one of those balls where the core is really strong but the cover is somewhat weak? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Right now im impressed with the look i get when i can use it, but wow its either super strong off dry, or litte to no reaction when i move in trying to cover boards.

For me, this ball worked best on PBA experience patterns.  These patterns usually require a controlled move off the breakpoint.  On the THS, other balls gave me better results.

its just one of those in between balls for me, its too strong to play straight with it, and just not enough to turn the corner from deep. i have thought about taking it to 4000 no polish and see if it helps me on my league shot. a last resort would be a weight hole i guess. as for the PBA shots i could see it being used on chameleon or viper, im not sure about shark, unless it was broken down some, for me anyways.

I agree with it being an in between ball.  It worked on the medium PBA patterns for me.

I have one as well, one of the stronger pieces in my bag.  OOB it was over/under hell.  Too much in the dry, too little in the oil.  Being I prefer the early midlane read, with a strong backend arc....I hit the ball with 800 wet/dry paper and got exactly what I wanted from it.

I have never considered trying it polished...fwiw.

have 2. first is 6 1/4 from pap. surface is 1000 by hand. i use this playing straighter with good amount of speed. rev rate is about 500 axis 3½ over. second is 5½ from pap and is 2000 by hand. use this one when i move a bit inside. usually it is a step down from the first

Exactly what im getting, its way too much ball for tighter angles, not enough ball for crossing boards unless i have bump outside. Going lower on my grit was my last option besides a weight hole. All this being said its an absolute monster off the dry.

For me it is just not angular enough on the house patterns. However it is a great ball when you need controlled hook on tough conditions. looking to drill another
