Need some help please.

I have a Violent Eruption that I really like, however, I need something below this that I can use on very dry lanes.  I'm looking at the Freeze line or maybe even the Scout.  Any ideas would be helpful.

I have the Freeze---a nice ball for medium to dry conditions. On "very dry lanes," even the Freeze may be too much ball. I have no experience with the Scout, but I suspect that it would be better on burned up lanes than the Freeze.

either one of those balls will be under the violent eruption without more info like your style, where you normal play the lane and what your violent eruption is doing that you want to compliment it our suggestions would be a crap shoot.

that being said if you find yourself being able to use the eruption for most of the night and need a ball by game three you could probably go with the freeze. i have had 2 of them and love it

You might be interested in checking out the Blur Pearl also. Great performance for a great price, and it's just above the Freeze line.

freeze drilled properly will be perfect
like stated above, Blur will be slightly above the freeze and also a good choice
you may have to move your feet and mark in some to adjust when your shot goes away

If you are talking "very dry"; then step down to a Scout.  Some people have to realize that the Freezes and Blurs have high end coverstocks from not that long ago.

When you mean very dry; are you speaking in terms of the Violent having too much backend hook or is that ball struggling just to get through the front part of the lane?  The answer to that question will make a difference on what ball to suggest.

Both.  Sometimes it looks like it is rolling out and others when it has too much backend.  Moving deeper does not help and my stronger balls (Hammer Cold Blood, Ebonite Mission X and Ebonite Legacy) won't work unless I get really deep, which I don't want to do.  I guess I'm a stroker and like to play down and in over 10 or 12 standing anywhere from 17 to 23.  Can't get to the right of 10 because I'm bowling on a reverse block and the outsides are loaded with oil and are ob.  My speed is somewhere between 13 and 15mph and I am using 14lb equipment.  Oh, did I mention that I'm an old guy.

You suggested the Scout and that's what my pro-shop guy also recommended.  Looks like that may be what I need.

Thanks for the help.

I like Joey's idea of a Blur Pearl.  The cover is clean through the heads and it's not a really high RG, so if you give it a weaker layout, you should get through the heads easily and have a controlled move downlane.  I don't like drilling higher RG cores weaker, but that's a personal preference.
