Throttle vs. Full Throttle
« on: March 03, 2004, 03:32:49 AM »
I'm looking for a ball to use on tournament lanes, with a lot of oil gutter to gutter and normally very little backend reaction. I normally throw my Reaction Arc but that has seemed to lost some bite. I can throw anywhere form 16 to 22 mph consistently. I like to play in between second and third with a little bit of swing, probably starting at 12th and swinging out to about 6th. I put a decent amount of lift and the ball but would not consider myself a big cranker. I'm stuck between the Throttle and the Full Throttle. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I say if u need more versatility u go for the full throttle, if u just want a strictly heavy oil ball go for the throttle.  All of this is taken from the columbia site though.  Hopefully i get the full throttle in the next week or so, ill let u know what i think of it when i get it

I've looked at the Columbia website numerous times and I still don't see much of a difference between the tow. I know the the Throttle has a MuscleGT coverstock and the Full throttle has the Accelerator coverstock. But what does that mean on the lanes? What reaction is going to come from the two different coverstocks?

I have the Throttle and not the Full, but I think Dabalos is right. The Full Throttle gives you more length and backend from what I've heard. It's a little more versatile. I have been able to play all sorts of conditions with my Throttle though. It's been the most consistent ball that I have. I doubt if you could go wrong with either one.

I picked up my Full Throttle the other day and absolutely love it.  I am throwing it on a medium heavy house shot and this ball does not skid too long or roll out too early.  Mine was slightly polished.  Hope this helps somehow.
