My Full Throttle doesn't want to move help
« on: June 15, 2004, 11:30:56 PM »
Hey guys I'm having a problem with my Full Throttle. It doesn't seem to want to grab the lane anymore, which is really weird. It used to hook a bunch, but now, even my Detour out hooks it. I had it sanded to 320 grit hoping it would help, but it didn't seem to help much. Should I put some polish on it and see how it reacts? Anyone throw this ball and know what type of finish the coverstock likes for the best reaction?

I always heard the box condition was effective. Try taking her up to 1000 or 1200, and see what happens then.

I've only had this ball for around 50 games. I don't think it's cuz it had too much oil in it considering I clean it every time after I bowl with Storm reacta clean, and then clean and dull after every 3-4 times. I'll try to bring it back up to 1200 to see how it does. Thanks.

Definitely sounds you need a finer surface and maybe some polish.  320 grit on any ball is going to roll early (and out) on anything less than a flood.  If you want to keep it on the dull side for oil, I would definitely suggest Doc's Elixir.

Strider, I already use Doc's Elixir. It seems with the 320 grit surface, the ball doesn't have much friction with the lane for some reason. I'll try again tonight and see how it works and post here.

I have read on multiple websites about the Throttles dying out after 50 or so games. Those cover stocks stink and it makes no difference what you try to do to bring them back, I don't think anything will work.. Good luck..

Untrue, anything from the throttle up has a longer life span than previous c300 balls.

320 grit...you're looking at nothing but roll...that's not going to help the reaction...get it back up to atleast 1000 or 1200.  I have mine polished at 1500 grit and the reaction is basically a skid/snap...I love it.  Stay away from a lower grit with the Full Throttle.  Don't forget, it's a reactive ball so yeah stay away from something like that.  With a particle, you might be ok, but there's no need for a surface like that on a reactive cover.
