Original Beast for light oil
« on: September 20, 2009, 01:33:17 AM »
Would my original Purple beast be a good lighter oil ball or when their fried??
I'm a stroker at about 16-17 with about 275 rev rate, rightie. I was just wondering if I should just use this old thing when they start snappin too much for my Furious. Thanks for your input.

The original Purple solid used Flex-Cel in the coverstock, a step down from Super-Flex.

While it should function as a step down from a Furious, with the same surface, I wouldn't suggest using it for "fried" lanes, unless it were highly polished or you were speed-dominant.

Seeing how old it is, you might want to do an oil extraction on general principles to insure it's functioning at its optimum. It is still reactive resin and while it probably absorbs oil much slower than current resins, it still absorbs. And it's 17 years old!

Yes, it's a vet no doubt.
I've reconditioned it and now I'll polish it up and try it.
Thanks for your thoughts, it's a hard ball for me to bench.

I've just started back after about 14 years and I'm currently using a Resurgence and a Furious.
Friends have recommended a Emerald Vibe for the sticky conditions and I was just thinking out loud about my old Beast.

Emerald Vibe is polished pearl with very strong backend and probably handles a bit more oil than your polished Beast.

I don't believe putting a strong polish on the Beast would be a good idea, as a step down from the Furious. There'd be too much of a difference between them.
Try it with a 800 -1000 grit matte finish.
