Got this ball on the cheap off ebay a couple weeks ago and decided to punch some holes in it yesterday. I had alot of success with the Boss series from Columbia some years back, so i dediced to give it a try.
I need a piece that was weaker for med light to dry conditions, and talking with my friend Jimmy Martin he told me to be careful on the layout because this ball is sneaky strong. He wasn't lying! On to the results:
Layout: 5"X 4", Pin about 2" above ring finger, CG kicked 1" right of pin, No balance hole was needed.
Surface Prep: Box Finish
Lane Surface: Gaurdian Synthetics, trashed house shot.
I started with my Big Shot and my Momentum Swing, and both were too much ball for the burnt lanes we had. After a game of useing both of those balls to get a feel for how the lanes were, i switched to the Loud Noize for game 2. I lined up playing a more direct line around 7-8, breakpoint the same as well. Started pretty good, threw a double, and some good pocket hits but it still looked like it was burning up a bit, ended up shooting 198, with a missed spare in the 8th.
Game 3 is when i decided to see how strong this ball was, so i took a big step left, lining up targeting 22 at the arrows to a breakpoint of 7 down the lane. Nice result, dead flush...strung some strikes together and shot 233, not bad considering the dry conditions.
The 4th game i decided to try different lines and angles with different hand postions to get different reactions on the lane. One thing that stood out is that this is ALOT of ball for the money. The backend reaction on this thing is very nice, it reminds me of the old Strawberry Tour Boss from some years back.
Final observations: My friend Jimmy was right, this ball is sneaky strong, especially when you have some friction on the backends. Even with the older Boss core i am still getting over 5" of flare. The cover on this ball give you effortless length, and a nice strong backend that is borderline flippy. Compared to my Big Shot which is at 2000 no polish, the Loud Noize is about 6 boards less in strength, but has a good 5 boards more area on the back, due to drilling and surface. Compared to the Momentum Swing, the Loud Noise is a good 2-3 feet longer, and 2-3 boards stronger on the back, with the Momentum being 3-4 stronger overall.
I feel like anyone who is looking for that go longer piece is really gonna like this ball, especially when they see the backend movement it has. It loves friction, and i think with a drilling different than mine this ball could easily cover med to med hvy patterns for tweeners and crankers. Strokers are gonna like this ball when the heads go away and they are struggling to get other stuff through the fronts.
The real test for the Loud Noize will be tonight in my league. That center uses a heavier volume pattern with alot less friction on the backend and outsides when compared to the center i was in last night. Ill report back tomorrow with observations from center 2.
