Does anyone know when Columbia 300 will give more descriptive information about their new covers; ie. pearl or solid or particle.

I think it's been a while since they used the soft particle like Mica that get affected by silicon carbide, the average abrasive. Brunswick and Legends balls still use the really hard particles that are not affected. Even more so, you need the Haus diamond pads or Trizact pads to truly affect the particles and not just the resin base.

Education of pro shops by the manufacturers and, in turn, the average bowler by the pro shops, goa long way towards getting good results from balls. In this age, it is odd that people ignore every word of instruction about balls (some pro shops still drilling by static weights and ignoring the pin and still others totally ignoring the Mass Bias marking.); so it's not surprising that they ignore the recommendations of the manufacturers regarding ball care.

I think Ebonite has only side stepped the issue(s) invovled with particles. Yes, there's less worry about the surface adjustments (sanding particles) but the extra care required by the super absorbers still must be emphasized. There are already too many people here that now refuse to use them because of these properties.

FYI: Don't forget Ebonite/Hammer still says, as far as I know, that it's not oil absorption, but plasticzer coming to the track's surface that affects the ball's performance.

Wait a minute hear boys! I have heard that Hammer makes their own covers they are not reusing Big E's stuff Why would Columbia reuse ebonites stuff or why would Track for that matter, the information I had heard from a local Ebonite guy was that it will still be Columbia's R&D they will just be poured by Ebonite.

As for the New Columbia covers and gear in general I don't think I will be using them for a few seasons, I have had very poor luck with Columbia the last couple of seasons, as a matter of fact the only ball I have had any sucess with in the last two years has been EPXt1 and that thing was and still is just jaw dropping. But as for my Wrath and Proffesional they were pretty much duds.

Hey Lefty I wish I was in Hawaii! Anyway my Professional was laid out Identical to my Current Awesaome Flip Pin over the ring finger mass bias out 1 1/2 inches it was great PBA Patterns but on our local THS it was a flop maybe the ball was a touch to strong grabbing to soon I tried adjusting the cover and it didn't help. It was tough decison to get rid of the ball. I shouldnt call it a flop I guess I just got really flustered with it on the THS it didn't do what I was looking for I guess

Did the professional have a mass bias marked. I didn't think it did becaue of it having the bully core.

1. The professional did not have a MB marked.  It was introduced as a 'symmetrical' asymmetrical, meaning low to no MB...

2. The Black Widow has the same cover as Ebonite's One.  The companies (now all four of them + Dyno overseas) share the same R & D people, but Brand Managers of the separate dvisions (and their respective staff) are still involved with product development and design.
