OOB For Columbia 300 Action Max
« on: April 08, 2009, 05:41:55 AM »
Did anyone have a Columbia 300 Action Max and if so, do you remember the OOB surface? Each website says something different in terms of whether it was polished, whether it was left dull, etc...Any help would be appreciated :-) Fished one out of my closet and want to try throwing it.

The out of box finish was 1200 grit on both the Action and Action Max.  Both balls have a matte finish.  The Action Max also has a particle cover.

I finished it off tonight with Storm Step 2 (1500 polish). We'll see how it does.

Good luck with it Tom.  You'll get a bit more length.  Mine is at Abralon 2000 no polish and it is definitely a strong arcing ball.  It also carries well and doesn't rollout on me.

Actually, it's a solid reactive with a hint of pearl additive in it. I know on a few websites it was stated as a particle awhile back but I did check with Columbia and it is definitely a solid and not particle. The look of the pearl additive on the coverstock reminds me of the Ebonite NVD and Resurgence because they're kind of the same way. It's a good ball and it does have a strong arc but I had better luck with it at 1000 abralon dull.

Here's Columbia 300's spec sheet on the Action Max.  They state that it has a particle veneer.
