I am looking for one single RH drilled or NIB. I am looking to get one because it was such a "BEAST" for me when I got my first 800 with it. Have been watching the 1993 tournaments and such and those Columbia Staff keep throwing; making me want it more..
Thanks folks!

what on the market matches up most with the beast?
i still use mine in league on sport patterns 38' or less.
It must have 2000-3000 games on it, still hits decent and rolls so well.

Dan,
Didn't the LTD use Super-Flex as the coverstock instead of the Flexcel?

I'd guess either the Orbit Extreme or the Roto-Grip Saturn with a finer than the stock 800 grit surface. (The Saturn's cover is ot wek; the ball has been "weakened" by putting a very high RG core with low flare in it.)
The main problem today is there are no solid coverstocks that are as mild as the Flexcel on the original Beast. Balls with solid resin covers such as PK 17 or Curelyon are just not made anymore. You have to find them used or on Ebay, if at all possible.
The only one I know about is the cover on the Visionary Blue/Green Centaur, but that core has ZERO flare; so the overall ball might be too weak for you. I love the ball and it's my mildest resin ball. I have the cover sanded to 2000 grit, from its stock 1000 grit.
One last but more remote possibility is the Hammer Pure Burgundy Hammer. It has a normal core but a weak coverstock. Not sure if it has recently been discontinued.

Yeah, I don't know what all this LTD with MICA is.. I just had an original Purple Beast.. That is all I remember about the ball.
What is LTD and MICA by the way?

First Beast was Urethane followed in the next year by the Flexcel model.

The original purple beast was supposed to be plain urethane with a bulb shaped weightblock in it. I had one of these and it would be pretty weak on todays conditions.
The next one looked exactly like the first issue except that the cover was changed from pure urethane to the Flexel derivative. A more aggressive ball that could still be used on today light oil shots with some success.
From there it gets confusing. Columbia had many beast series issues after that but they all were on the weaker side ( except for the da*m Super-Beast ).
They had:
1. Purple beast ( urethane )
2. Purple beast ( flexel )
3. Purple pearl beast ( pearlized flexel )
4. Blue Beast ( High friction urethane, whatever that is )
5. Blood beast ( A red version of the beast. Not sure of the coverstock )
6. Ti-Beast ( A dark blue urethane with a titanium nugget weightblock )
7. Super beast ( Blue pearl reactive. Super-flex cover I believe )
Then there were a few special releases, like the purple beast LTD. It has a purple pearl cover ( not sure which one ) with mica flakes in it to enhance the oil handling capabilities, almost like a mild particle added to the cover.
If you go to bowlingballreviews.com and do a search on beast and check the discontinued box, you will get many results.

Ahh, yeah, I believe I had the Pearl Purple Beast. I used it this year actually, and the whole bridge cracked, completely. So it was just one open hole. I didn't want to put 50$ worth of plug in it.. Although I did shoot my first 800 with it.

The LTD Pearl beast was more of a Cuda/C Pearl remake. It had the Cuda/C weightblock inverted and pearlized Flexcel. Pretty sweet.
Don't forget the Beast Master. Ugh......nevermind, do forget it.

I have a 16 lb Pearl Beast I would consider getting rid of. PM me if you are interested.

A lot of Beasts show up on eBay periodically.
I have the Original Blue Urethane Beast and Super Beast in my bag right now. Amazing equipment on the right conditions.
