Detour: first impressions
« on: May 20, 2004, 07:53:05 AM »
I got this drilled yesterday, stacked leverage. The ball has a 3" pin, 3 oz top weight. The one thing that impressed me right off the bat with this ball is the way it clears the heads. I looks like it's not going to hook at all, and then it just gives u a monstrous angular backend. I've bowled with the Wicked B/R/T and the Full Throttle and neither balls have the same class of backend reaction that this ball has. I haven't exactly gotten used to the reaction yet, but first impression tells me this ball hits hard and hooks hard. While the carry isn't as good as the Full Throttle IMO, it is still very good. I'm gonna take it back to the bowling alley tonight and work with it some more to see how it goes. I'll give more details tonight.

Ok after a second go with this ball, I've come to a conclusion that it's amazing. I love the angular move it makes to the pocket. It absolutely loves house shots. I was playing around the 15 throwing to the 5 or even further out and it would still come back to the pocket with a sharp break. I subbed last night for another league and threw 169, 221, 180, which is above average for me by around 5-10 pins. The ease I was able to string strikes with this ball is amazing. The only problem I had last night was picking up my spares, which was hard on me because of this ball's late movement, which I have to get used to -- especially for the 7 pin. And in all, I can see why so many people have recommended this ball. I have another friend in league who drilled one with the same layout and he thought it was amazing as well. So if anyone's looking for a medium/medium heavy ball, look no further than the Detour.
