Title: Overdrive?
Post by: Rantings on September 02, 2005, 03:01:33 AM
Just did a search on this ball and find very few comments about it. Anyone like this ball?

Mike Wolf seems to like it...didn't Columbia say on its website he shot about 85X with it???

I have 3 Drives and an Alter Ego.  My first drive is drilled 1 3/8 By 6 (mb).

It is very smooth.

I picked up this and these other balls because I like accelerator from the Columbia throttle R.  And I had seen the weightblock look good in the Alter Ego in the one sold to me.

At this time I have now drilled the second drive 4 1/8(pin down) by 8 after throwing it that way with the original owners pitches and have not processed it with the new pitches.

I am expecting good results as these balls have a little less flare than say an X factor or triple X and this seems to work well in my local centers, which want boards to be covered smoothly in the back rather than covering a lot of boards or covering them quickly.  They also have a medium mass bias.

I also picked them all up CHEAP...real cheap.

Within a month I will have results on 3 drives and an alter ego!

Overdrive is basically(not exactly) a solid reactive version of drive..alter ego a particle version.

I have one with a weak drill that I really like.  Pin over the fingers with the thumb hole drilled through the MB and a six inch hole.  Rolls really nice on flatter patterns with some backend and the hit is very good.  Very nice ball motion, but very condition specific with this drilling.  As pearls go, I would say it's pretty strong.

Sorry for the confusion, I have a Drive, not an Overdrive.

Sorry I always think everyone is me...checking for reviews in two places...

I believe the reviews for Drive(pearl) and Alter Ego(particle) have some relevance as all 3 share a very similar core of medium diff and a moderate mass bias.

The reviews on bowling ball reviews say something that if my drive is any indication these balls are in that very middle category of both flare and mass bias and can be used to cover a lot of conditions.

Yeah...all different coverstock....if one likes Alter Ego....good chance to find use for drive and Overdrive.

I drilled one for a two hander about 5-6 months back, after about 6 or 7 honor scores later, he seems to like it.  Very smooth off the breakpoint, loves inside angles.

Out of my full throttle detour and solution this is my favourite ball.  hits hard and easy to control.
