Title: perfect rival: skid/snap?
Post by: militant02 on March 08, 2009, 11:04:15 PM
BTM's review of the perfect rival gives the impression that it has a very angular move on the backend. for those of you who own it what are your opinions of this ball, how do you have it drilled, is yours polished and what is your style?

I have one drilled to go a little long and snap up. I have the surface at 2000 abralon. This ball has a great reaction and a bit of an angular move on the backend. I prefer to play straight but I have been scoring well playing a little bit of an in to out area. I have a high of 280 with it. Very good ball for the price. I also have a Noize to compliment the Perfect on fresh conditions. The noize hooks up earlier than the perfect. A great combination of balls! This new Columbia stuff is great and definitely underrated!

Mine is pin up 4 1/4 x 4 1/2 ball is more rolly but covers alot of ground for me, Power swing I have with same layout it would be a better choice imo.

I had the chance to throw the Perfect Rival,Momentum Swing and the Power Swing at a Columbia Demo day and the perfect Rival was the ball that jumped the hardest off the friction. It would get a little farther down the lane than the Power Swing and more angular. The Momentum Swing was the earliest and smoothest of the 3.

I've seen a few being thrown and it doesn't look skid-flip/snap at all. More of a hard arc.

I kind of want to get one myself, but might overlap w/ my Pin Slasher. Might be good for a different look, though...

Overall boards covered between the Pin Slasher and Perfect Rival are very close but they are very different looks.  Power Swing is more like the Pin Slasher.
