Purchased EPX - Any Suggestions on Drilling?
« on: October 31, 2006, 09:09:39 AM »
The EPX I orderd just came today.

Any thoughts on how to drill it up? Plan to only use it for Heavy Oil.

Should it be drilled strong?

Some info on my style:
- Right Handed Bowler
- Ball Speed: 15 - 16mph
- Medium to High Revs
- Have High Track
- Five Step Approach

Ball weight: 15lbs 3ozs
3" Pin
3 3/4 ozs of Top Weight.

Any input would be appreciated.
Thanks,

I got this ball for $50 so I thought I take a chance and see if it would work for me.

Stacked leverage or relatively close I'd think.  The EPX only has a .040" differential so leverage pin placements are a good idea for heavy oil.  Without being able to pull up the drill sheet for this ball I'd be guessing that with more revs than speed you might want to keep the pin even or above the fingers to promote some length (very aggressive/rolly coverstock) and to keep from flaring over finger holes if you track too high.

Found the layout sheet...

I have one of these and it is drilled like this pin below and just the left of the fingers mass bias is out about 2 inches. When I first tried this ball it rolled way to early so I had small put on the ball to bring the reaction later down the lane. This ball set up like this works on anything except bone dry desert stuff med-heavy oil this will be a winner hits like a frieght train on roids. just make sure you put it in hot every 9-12 games for about 15-25 minutes and you are good to go.

Good luck

When putting it in water, do you use any soap?

These balls worked best sitting on the shelf.

Think of the other poor 9 people that have to bowl behind that lane vaccumn

Hey!! To all of you people who evidently don't know how to care for this ball wake up! Soak it in hot water every 12 games or so and it will be one of the best oil balls you could ask for! Get off this ball quit whining and crying cause yours died, YOU!! didn't take care of the ball, I take of mine and it takes care of me. And while I am at it this ball doesn't work the greatest on league shot try it on a Sport pattern and watch it turn it into Gravy you can't ask for a better oil ball than this.

my personal suggestion would be to just drill one 1/4 inch hole and insert an eye bolt and a string and use it as a boat anchor!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It ain't worth the time to drill or the cost of the bolt!

I just gave it its first bath. Just like the Columbia300 article states, the additive came right out and the color is lighter. The ball seems to be real smooth after I dried it off not much tackiness. Is this how it should be? The ball is definitely not much to look at! Really don't care as long as it performs.

Anxious to see how it will be on the heavy oil. I will be trying it out on Thursday on a PBA pattern.

Trash heap!! In answer to your question yes the ball should feel real smooth after its bath just let it cool off somehere then go ahead and give it a shot it will work like new every time! If the ball ever cools off and is still dark put it in hot water again repeat until the ball is light gray again or close to it, I do it every 12 games for about 20 minutes!
