Rico Resurgence?
« on: June 24, 2008, 09:10:35 PM »
How would this drill work? i am a stroker with medium revs, about 14-15MPH. looking for something to handle a lot of oil. also to read the lanes.

If you have true "medium" revs and a ball speed of only 14-15 mph, then unless you change the surface, I believe the Resurgence, a major oiler, will be way too early rolling on the lane. If you have "league bowler" medium revs (maybe 200-225 rpms), then maybe you need to Rico drill an oiler, like the Resurgence. True medium revs, around 300 rpms, + a strong ball like the Resurgence should allow you to handle heavy oil with a "normal" drilling.

A Rico drilling usually makes a ball earlier and smoother and handles slightly more oil and more carrydown than a "normal" or "average" drilling.

However, that also depends on what your PAP is.  For some bowlers, a Rico drill is a fairly strong layout (4.5" pin to PAP distance), but for others it's a little weaker (5.5" or 6" pin to PAP distance).  Therefore, even with the super low pin meaning the ball picks up a roll early, it transitions into that roll gradually over a long period of time, and longer pin distances result in less flare to help push the ball down the lane.

But also, yes, the Resurgence is strong enough to handle all the oil you'll ever seen in the vast majority of league conditions even with a little bit of a weaker drill layout.  You may even find it too strong and need to polish it.

He doesn't post much on here but user JBPizzle300 has a rico'd resurgence. He keeps it polished because it is so strong but you may want to drop him a pm or if I get a hold of him i'll inform him to post on it.
