Resurgence
« on: September 02, 2007, 11:19:27 AM »
I was looking in picking up a ball for heavy oiled lanes or double oiled heads.  By saying this, the Resurgence was one of the two balls I was looking at, the Fury was the other.  So, before I do anything, can someone provide some opinions on this balls?  I bought and EPX a few years back and at first, it was the biggest moving ball I ever had, then I had to deal with the cleaning dilemma.  After saying this, it cracked after about 35 games.  So, as you can see, I'm willing to give Columbia another chance.

If there are any other balls, that move more than the two above, let me know.  I'm looking for something for heavy oil, excessive head oil and carry down.

Thanks!

The Resurgence will probably out hook anything on the market for heavy oil RIGHT now. I would definetly go with that ball. Talk to "mrbowlingnut" because i'm pretty sure he said some good things about it earlier today regarding a heavy oil type ball. Hope this helps.

Resurgence is a stronger epx-1 and i do not think it will crack, i used it this morning again for a few games against the following balls;

Odyssey assymetrical flip drilled pin over ring 4 1/2 to pap and mb right under my thumb do not know exact mb to pap probably right at 5-5 1/2 inces though. It hooked pretty good on a heavier than normal soup, i think they went with a heavier new league shot every ball was dripping oil no kidding either on that. the odyssey is strong but probably a good 5-6 boards less ball it might make it to 3-4 boards if the mb was alittle stronger.

rival box untouched still easily 7-8 boards less today some days it has been 10 baords less than the resurgence. Pin under ring no weighty 4 1/2 pin to pap

Yeah baby pin over ring cg stacked no weighty 4 1/2 pin to pap ball has decent length and a ton of backend movement for a solid particle ball. This ball made the pocket every shot just like the resurgence, i could switch for this ball for oil with no worries.

Special Agent pin over ring 4 1/2 pin to pap 1000 no polish no weighty ball has no chance way too much for this ball, it skated and would flip over sometimes it made sometimes it was washout city with it.

Resurgence made all of these look bad on heavier oil it is still the king of oily lanes, i cleaned all of them today after bowling and the dirt came out of the resurgence very well. first time i bothered to clean it in about 18-20 games so far.

Go for it and you will not be sorry

4 1/2 pin to pap under ring and cg is 4 1/4 no weight hole, if you have head oil that is at least medium you can use this ball and swing it on medium's even with no hand like me.

Hey, Mr. Bowling Nut, where do you live?  I also have a Yeah Baby, a Terminator and a Sting from Legends.  I love these balls, due to they last forever and crushes the pins.  I needed something that moves more than them, due to I'm sick and tired standing far right, when theres excessive oil.

Yesterday, there was Ebonite day's at the bowling alley and they intentionally flooded the lanes and most were struggling.  Since I'm down in in, I can adjust with difficult shots.  I shot 640, which was under average, but not as bad as some other scratch bowlers who were close to 100 pins under!

Hey 300, have you seen this ball used in heavy heavy oil or double head oil?  I have not seen anybody use this ball thus far, I've only seen the Fury and the Fury Pearl, I'm not impressed with the Pearl at all, it slides on heavy oil.  The one thing I like about the Resurgence is it's weight block, it's virtually half the ball.  The only thing I'm nervous about is Ebonite bought Columbia and the NVS is the hot ball and I'm not certain, if they will let one of the sister companies out perform big brother.  The NVS skids on heavy oil box finish, I have a few friends who own one and when there's backend, the pins fly around like missiles.  I almost got one, but I'm holding off for the heavy oil.  Let's just say, if and when you go in a tournament and the lanes are totally flooded, this is what I want, I may not need to use it all the time, but when I need to, I want it to work from the get go, due to the brackets and jackpots involved.

300,

I have a friend who's on Ebonite's Staff and he swears the high end Ebonite Line will out hook the sister balls and that's what the big wigs want.  But with the polished coverstocks, I never believe these balls will move in heavy oil, that's why I tend to lean towards the matte / sanded ones for soupy lanes.  I do think the symmetrical balls will roll better in heavy oil, compared to the asymmetrical ones.  I have a black widow pearl on when there's longer oil on the lanes, it slides bye and really doesn't flip.

I have also heard the Resurgence is the best heavy oil mover on the market.

When will you pick up your Resurgence?

The Resurgence I threw was just icky.. It was also a test ball, so maybe that can cover the reason for it?

Best heavy oil ball on the market I wouldn't push it that far there is alot of stuff that will probably out hook a Resurgance ( I have not used one by the way) i would bet an Awesome Hook or a Immortal Solid will probably out turn a Resurgance. Or if you want to go back what about the all powerful EPX t1 mine is alive and kicking and eating oil for lunch

Resurgance being the most hooking ball ever made.  I highly doubt that.  I haven't seen these 2 bowling balls side by side but I don't wanna know if anything can out hook the AMB Centaur Particle by Visionary.  If you want a ball for soup (SOUP ONLY) then thats what you want, but if you get that thing on anything less than EXTREME oil conditions where nothing will hook then it won't work at all for you.  As far as an all around better heavy oil ball, I'd say the resurgance is probably better, just because it would be more versatile.  Once again I haven't seen these two rolled side by side so I can't make a really 100% positive response on it but this is what I think.

ive also heard The Rising from Track will cover as many boards as the Resurgence, the difference is The Rising is 4000 grit and the Resurgence is 1000 grit, take the Resurgence down to 1000 and you have a stronger ball

Hi i was at a demo day at a centre in melbourne australia ans i must the resurgence was nice in the oil didn't over react or anything just a smooth reaction into the pocket but was playing inside shot but it still came back from outside shot aswell but i'll say this my NVS out hooks it. But resurgence will be a good heavy oil ball.

I actually have both the Resurgence and NVS, and the Resurgence runs circles around the NVS. Plays awesome on heavy oil. The NVS is really sensitive in heavy oil IMO. Even after hitting 2000 abralone.

I used the ball in medium to heavy (closer to medium) and it reacted really nicely. Hooked great and at the same time was very controlable. I had not bowled in three months abd I shot 694. I was throwing everything too hard. I can't wait to get smooth with the ball and really see what it has. So far it has lived up to expectations and is controllable. When carry down was significant, it busted straight through without getting hung up. So far I have enjoyed it!
