Problems with Wrath SF?
« on: December 08, 2007, 11:30:20 AM »
So, I just recently bought a Wrath SF through bowlingball.com for 50 bucks.  Just couldn't resist considering I've always wanted to try that ball.  So I drill it up last Saturday,  And took it out on the lanes right afterward.  Warmed up a bit with my green gargoyle before tossing the SF.  Figured the SF was going to make a fairly strong backend movement, so I moved inside of where I was shooting the GG (about 7 and 3 move) and roll the SF.  ball goes down gets through the heads great, and then all of a sudden... keeps going straight .  So I figure ok no big deal just rolled a bad shot.  roll the same shot again, same reaction.  ok so maybe theres some carry down and thats causing it, so I'll move outside and roll it out there.  to make a long story short I keep moving outside until I'm about 4 and 2 right of where I was rolling the GG, and then finally I was able to consistently get it into the pocket.  But now that it was in the pocket I was leaving 10 pin after 10 pin.  I figured that there was just too much carry down for the ball and that I should try it on fresh oil some time.

So I take it to a tourney with me.  Chameleon pattern.  Figured the ball might have enough pop on fresh backends to at least give me an idea on how the ball will work on fresh backends.  once again, ball just skates.  roll 2 shots and put it up.

Finally today had my fresh oil house shot again.  decided before I even got there that I was going to use that ball for most of the day.  This time I was standing 1 board right of where I was striking with my GG in practice.  shoot 205, and 218.  Ball definately carries light hits well but pocket hits are just 10 pin after 10 pin.  End up pulling out my old Ebonite Wave, moving inside with it and shooting 258 the last game to save the day.

I've never heard of anybody having problems like this with the ball in fact if any they were complaining about it hooking too much.  I compared the ball with my Original Wrath and the Original Wrath is about 2-3 boards stronger.  I'm thinking I might have to take the surface down a bit on this ball to get it to react very well at all.  Any suggestions?  Specs are in my Profile.

OOps. Almost forgot,  Drilled the ball basically 4x4 Pin right next to Ring no weight hole has about a 2 1/2 inch pin.  The GG has a 0 inch pin, and is drilled 5 1/4 x 5 1/4 with the pin right under the bridge.  and the Wave is drilled Identical to the SF.  Wrath is drilled 5 x 4 1/2 with pin over ring.  All original surface preps.  Thanks again.
