rival compared with the gambreaker question
« on: November 20, 2007, 04:42:44 AM »
im going to be recieving a rival in the coming weeks along with the resurrgence. i know the res. will be out of the bag until i see some heavy oil, but im worried about the rival overlapping my gamebreaker...the gb is such a great ball and i think the rival might overlap it and i dont want that...my gb is drilled 4x3 my pap is 4 and 1/2 over 0 up or down...

my ? pretty much is how can i drill the rival to go above the gb and also wut layout could work to be under the gb... thanks for ur help

You might get more flare from the Gamebreaker soley base don the numbers, but in my book, they're equal.

You can drill it weaker with some polish and have it go under the Gamebreaker if you want.

IMHO, you probably would want the Rival to go under the Gamebreaker because you have a Resurgence to go over it.  I'd drill it for length (5 or 6" pin to PAP) and put a little polish on it so that when the GB starts to check to early, the Rival comes into play.  Mines drilled with the pin up and between the fingers and the CG in the palm with a little Magic Shine Polish and it's a monster.  The problem as my pro shop operator always tells me is that you can't outdrill the dynamics of a ball, so I think no matter what drill, surface, layout, etc you use, they will overlap a little bit.  But since the GB is drilled to roll a little earlier, drilling the Rival for length will minimize the overlap.

i have a gamebreaker and a rival,both drilled 4 1/2 pin 4 1/2 cg.
the gamebreaker is a little sooner in the mid lane and a little smoother overall.
they do compliment each other pretty good,if you want a little more difference between the two do what CHawk says and bring up the surface some on the rival, rival is a great ball by the way.
