What's the deal with so many Retros on Ebay?
« on: December 16, 2003, 02:07:31 AM »
I've got to ask... why are there so many of the new Piranha Retros on Ebay?  I bought one off there and had my local pro shop guy drill it, and I love the ball.  But there seems to be just a horrid abundance of them on the auction sites!

Is it because Columbia made a boo-boo in marketing it as a "high performance" ball and pricing it accordingly?  I bought mine for $55 ball + 20 shipping + 35 drilling = $105.  Local pro shops have it for $150 before drill.

Just once I'd like to show up at a place with the lanes FLOODED 45 feet down and flat.  That way I can watch these crankers struggle to find the pocket and leave splits while I come straight off the corner and do nothing but make 4 pins and 10 pins all night.

i think they came out and overpriced it from the get-go and turned alot of people off.

by july at the abc's in knoxville, the columbia booth had them on sale for $99 drilled.

i just bought a couple of them off of ebay and can't wait to get them.  i've seen a few in action, and i think the piranha would be a good addition to anyone's arsenal.

Not neccessarily true about the Triumphs or valour p, it's columbia that's running the show for there ball division. altho about the retros i've noticed there on clearance everywhere. I had one, it was good, low flare, saved lots of energy for the backends, and was pretty sharp still. i didn't pay full dollar for mine, but it was good.
