Short Pin Full Swing - High Track Player Layout?
« on: October 05, 2009, 06:55:36 AM »
Have a short pin Full Swing, 1 - 1.5" pin, looking for help with a smooth, arcing type layout for this piece. My specs are: PAP - 5 1/4" over 0 up or down, speed about 16 mph, low axis tilt, medium axis rotation, abouty 250 - 275 rpm's. Looking for something smooth and arcing, I do plan to polish this ball a little to help it get farther down the lane, and will use it on a fresh condition with clean backends before transition starts. Any help or suggestions will be appreciated.

Pin down and mb in the 45-50degree range should make it smooth. If using a dual angle to lay it out, Id say 45-50degx5"x40-45deg. I would not polish it yet though, it gets decent length and is very clean through the fronts allready. Adding surface to it would be better for making it smooth and polishing it could make it jumpy.

Fully agree with the layout above.  On a little bit more volume this ball should get through the heads very easily, so I also don't see a need to polish.  If its a little too early on you first try hitting the cover with a fresh 4000 abralon pad before trying polish, it'll give the ball a nice smooth surface and add a bit of a sheen to it.
