Somewhat impressed with the Formula
« on: July 14, 2005, 12:42:07 AM »
Had purchased this from a friend a long time ago and my pro shop buddy and I liked it's move for our lanes.  Long and smooth off the break in a very harsh wet dry shot at our synthetic home house.  Unfortunately it was 16.  Traded.

Just got a 15 and threw it and same thing.  Good lenth with a smooth backend.

I love my Icons and I have an Icon 300 which is earlier and very round a great oily wet dry ball.  I also have an Icon II which looks just like the Formula to me in the heads and mids and then flips for a particle.

Basically the Formula reminds me of a Icon II with out the flip!  Or a breeding of the Icon and Icon II.

I am still adjusting length.  Pro shop guy had Finesse II which to me is pretty jumpy and tacky for our house.

Successful Formula users who have set up for length.  What have you used on your Formula for surface?

I was very interested in that ball, I liked the core in it, and thought it might be a good one. Never got to try it though. I haven't heard of Columbia using the Vaccine cover on anything else though. Not sure what to make of it. Guy in our league last year had one and I was impressed with the look of it.

New Uturns are the same core.

Went to a local wet dry house that I played very well with the Icon last year and this looked better even with some one else's pitches.

Drilling is pin over bridge and cg in palm but up.  5 1/2 X 5 1/2

This drilling never works for me with reactive...very long and then super flippy but late.  ON this ball coverstock reads just early enough to maintain control and then a smooth read to the hole.

Very impressive again and I don't have my fit yet.

I like this ball on synthetics with wet dry.  Don't see it as a heavy oil ball.
