Title: STS vs Superflex
Post by: Juggernaut on June 07, 2006, 02:36:35 PM
Can someone tell me, what is the difference between these two covers? The STS ( Stuff That Strikes ) name is kinda gimmicky, but if it is better I guess a catchy gimmick would be o.k.

My guess is its the same coverstock or a slight tweek.  Whats to stop any ball company from marketing an older coverstock with a shiny new name.  While i have no knowledge either way this is just my opinion but I do believe this happens from time to time.

hyjinx cover is strong i believe tweaked superflex or maybe really a new cover would be correct because differential is only .031 on it, ball is stonger than a dr. jekyl.

My understanding is that the HyJinx and Jinx, Big Flip Strong and Big Flip respectively are a stronger version of SuperFlex, while the STS and STS XP are new covers all together to Columbia.

Oops your right Jon anyway congrats on a fine week, sts is on the wrath series but Big Flip strong is a stronger cover than superflex. My driller just punched up both wrath's so i will let you know how they hook soon. I have the hyjinx but nothing else newer yet, i told my driller i am not buying anything unless he tells me yea or nay from now on.

I was told these were all brand new covers from Columbia as well.

Here is my guess...

BUT I want to hear more from People using the Wrath's.

Looks like the old proven TiBoss 2 core(they say also) with this new stuff.

Me guessing it is closer to the AMF Radar coverstocks...and the Storm Reactor coverstocks which many say are similar to Brunswicks Activator +s.

Earlier and more continuous than the typical skid snap reactive stuff.

Could it maybe be a version of M80 plus...as I said like the Radar and Maximum Velocity at AMF???

Others Wrathed it up yet...besides review guy from Columbia??

The covers in the Jinx/HyJinx and Wrath/xp are completely NEW covers. They are not tweaked superflex.  The R&D team has been working on these new covers for sometime now and we have many variations of this new cover.

From what I read...I would guess closer to the more continuous nature of the Radar and Maximum Velocity from AMF...no?

Is this a correct description...more continuous...less skid snappy?

The new cover is harder but puts a larger foot print on the lane.  So pending on how strong we make each cover it changes ball reaction.  To say that these covers are continous it depends on how it match's to the core.  Currently, the Wrathxp is the smoothest reaction out of all of them.  The rest of them will give you more length and more motion on the back.
