Tell me about your Freeze...
« on: October 03, 2009, 12:27:37 PM »
Waiting for my freeze to be drilled up but I wanted to get some more thoughts from experienced bowlers who used this ball in their arsenal.
My THS is medium oil, 41 ft.  I wasn't able to really use my Cell successfully here as I just don't see enough oil.  I've been using my V2 regularly.  As mentioned in another post, I can use the V2 all night.  On fresh, it comes in a touch light which is generally fine.  I can't complain averaging 240 1st game.
Generally, it's the transition/carrydown (3rd game) where the V2 struggles a bit.  I can still get it to the pocket but carry is suspect.  I figure a Freeze, which should be a smooth ball with the polish off should fit the bill.  I can move back left and use the same line as the 1st game.  Hopefully saving some energy for a nice strong turn into the pocket for some better carry.

Anyway, tell me about how you use the Freeze in your arsenal and what you think of it.  There aren't many reviews for the ball yet, although I'm told it is one of the most popular Columbia balls right now.

I have had the Freeze for a couple of months and I like this ball very much.
Pin is above the ring finger and it is stronger than I thought it would be.
On mediums, I can move in  a little (lefty) and play 15 out to about 8 usually
and get a very strong arc to the pocket.

So far this year this ball is out of the bag quicker than I would like it to bee, but we have had some dry lanes so far. I know alot of it is that I live in warm climate.
This is a really great piece of equipment, and should be given a chance before some of you write it off. For the price you wont find a better ball.

I drilled mine 5" pin to pap, under middle finger, no x-hole. It is a LOT stronger than I had hoped for. I have tried every surface adjustment imaginable, and at best it's a medium to medium-heavy oil ball. I feel the coverstock is just way too strong, even with the weak core to make it a dry lane ball.

I am a higher rev bowler and I put the pin above my ring finger, but I kicked my cg in. The cg is in my palm. I read some reviews saying that the ball hooked more than expected, so I figured having the cg in would smooth the ball out more. The ball is a little bit too smooth and I think I am going to put a hole in it to get it to read a little better.

well the RG is close to the wrath dead flush and the diff. is significantly higher so it should be more than a dry lane ball.

I have mine drilled 45x5.5x30 with a hole 5.5" straight across. (PAP is 5.5> .5^)and it's stronger on the backend than my T-Road Pearl, but MUCH cleaner through the heads. Like stated in other posts, it's a lot stronger than I hoped, but with it being so clean through the heads, I can usually make it work by just moving a little left with my feet. I'd say it's definitely worth the price.

I am hoping to see what it does tomorrow night for the first time.  It will be interesting to see what it does in my hand on the local shot.  I thought it might supplement the V2, but if it is stronger, it may actually replace it??
I was thinking of getting a Full Swing as well and have a 1-2 punch.
Others, keep the feedback coming.  I will post something when I see what it does.
