Title: The Jazz. Very impressive
Post by: Joe Jr on December 24, 2008, 10:03:31 AM
I have to post a little something about this ball, for being a cheap little entry level type ball it's really quite impressive. I originally drilled it just to shoot my spares with but I find myself throwing it regularly on everything. It saved my butt few days ago in league, couldn't carry the corners with anything else in my bag, pull it out the 3rd game and shoot 299, if I didn't throw it 42mph on the 12th I could racked up my 4th honor score with Columbia balls this season. It may look like a house ball but it's no joke, it's got Super-Flex on it, needs a little friction to get around the corner but I can throw it on fresh mediums all day long.

IMO Columbia has hands down the best balls on the market right now, from the Jazz to the Resurgence, they're all phenomenal.

I have to agree with you. I can actually throw mine on a fresh fairly heavy 42' THS too. I am shocked with how much it hooks and the drive it creates. I was looking for a drier lane ball and got more than I bargained for guess I'll have to stick with the White Dot for dry.

This ball is great on a THS in the track area....and it is my go to ball on the Cheetah and the Viper when the condition breaks down.  Great ball for the price~

Joe Jr...is 299 an honor score?

By the way...I've seen you throw that pill!  You looked good and I doubt even with your free armswing you could have been over 27 mph!!

REgards,

PS this guy CAN fling a pill!

I actually traded my Cell Pearl for NIB Jazz. I put pin down below bridge which is around 4 1/2" with cg about 2" to PAP and I swear it hooks as much as my Cell Pearl hooked. That thing just didn't match up with me but the Jazz is definitly solid.

OK, I admit, after reading this post a month ago plus the fact I was looking for a "weaker" ball to compliment my Rival, I became curious about the Jazz.  I even started another thread asking about just how strong/weak this ball actually is.  Being convinced by what I had read, I bought a Jazz for when the lanes start to dry up a bit and the Rival was no longer the ball to use on a second shift league.

Now, after about three or so weeks of rolling this ball, I have to agree that this ball is a HUGE bang for the buck!!!  I find myself using this ball quite a bit more than I expected, often on a freshly oiled shot for a first shift league...definitely a pleasant surprise!

Two thumbs up for the Jazz!!!

I too own a Jazz and it's all I need for 38' THS pattern for leagues.  It turns hard off the spot, it's forgiving, and acts like a premium ball with a $45 price tag w/ free shipping.

The color is a bit "girly" being black and pink. But this ball was cheap and I had to grab it.  I'm glad I did... very unexpected how good this ball is on THS.....

I've had several people in the leagues I bowl in ask me what I'm using.  When I tell them, most ask "how much was it?"...the answer usually leaves them with their mouth hanging open...

To be honest, I never was a Columbia300 fan but after rolling the Rival, the Wrath High Flush, and the Jazz, I'm glad I gave them a try...EXCELLENT EQUIPMENT!!!

I threw a Noize last night for the first time, ball is one of strongest rolling balls I have ever thrown.

Columbia is making top notch stuff right now, Perfect Rival is my first ball out most nights.

Power swing looks good but so does the Hot Sauce, unsure which to pick out of those two.

Smooth Arc, used mine in league last night, shot 732 and for the exception of 2 operator errors, didn't miss the pocket all night.

What's your ball's layout? The videos I've seen online made the ball look more skid/flip.
