Throttle
« on: December 20, 2005, 07:01:26 PM »
Does it really hook that much?  When I first started bowling this year after a few year layoff, I purchased a used pretty tracked out throttle from a friend.  I have yet to find another ball that curves anywhere near the amount or with the sharpness of this ball.  I have so far purchased an xxcel, bigtime, delta 1, smokin inferno, rsx, supercharge.  I will admit the pin on the throttle is drilled closer to leverage than any of my other equipment.  However, the layout on my xxcel and deltas are only about a 1/4 to 1/2 inch different than the throttle.  All of my equipment is polished the same with finesse-it 2.  The xxcel and delta were the two balls I expected to outhook the throttle however I stand about 5 boards deeper with the throttle over the xxcel and there is no comparison in the sharpness of the backend.  I just received the delta and in league monday I started out standing on 18 basically pointing down the 2nd arrow.  When I switched to my throttle I had to stand on 33 and swing it out to the 8 board at my break point.  I dont know if I am more amazed with my throttle or disappointed in how much my xxcel and delta hook.

The Throttle is a very high flare core!

I had a Throttle R and couldn't believe how big the move was.
My friend bought it and it was awesome!  But a little over under.

I have now picked up a used tracked out throttle and thrown it.

I was very impressed with the smoothness and size of move.

I can't wait to drill as it is one of my favorite coverstocks.
Muscle!

So you're saying you polish ALL your equipment?  Have you thrown the XXcel in OOB condition?  Or any of your stuff, or do you polish it up right away?  It could also have to do with how the ball "feels."  For some reason I throw some balls better than others, even if they have the exact same drill.

I do own a spinner so when balls dont roll good I have messed with the surface.  I only like surface when I face over under shots or heavy oil.  I dont have to really worry about either right now.  I am just bowling league currently and our shot is more of a flat pattern.  I have thrown the xxcel sanded with green pad and the delta and smokin with 1000 grit abralon. Maybe I just matchup with the throttle core.

If you're throwing almost exclusively on a medium pattern, than I can understand as well.  I know on my medium anything strong tends to just burn up.
