Throttle
« on: September 02, 2005, 09:10:35 PM »
What can I do with my throttle. It died after around 130-150 games, I read that polishing or sanding it while alive actually killed it therefore never did it, but now that is dead what can I do to revive it a little (I still managed to use it in the NIOpen 2 months ago because of the strong drilling and the medium oil conditions of the lanes (averaged 212 in 14 games)

Thanks

Give it a good cleaning (something like Track's Clean N Dull or NeoTac's Liquid Nitro), have it resurfaced on a Haus or Cook-Sphere machine, then try one of the newer rejuvenation products.  Ebonite makes Hook Again, and Columbia makes CPR.  Since it's a Columbia ball, find a proshop that offers CPR.

If that still doesn't help, consider one of the oil extraction methods.

BTW, sanding or polishing, if done correctly, never harms a bowling ball.  Some particles work better with Scotch Brite than sandpaper for example.  Some people way too much polish or wax based polishes that clog pores and greatly reduce the ball's reaction.  All surfaces can be successfully changed if you know what you're doing.

i say go with the Ebonite Hook Again system. Sand the ball down to 100 grit, and put it into the hook again center for 24-48 hours. This will take out the oil from the pours of the ball and leave it with a cover that can hook. You will have to have the ball cleaned and taken up to the desired condition after. Note, you should have a pro shop do this.
