Title: Total Bedlams working well at USBC Tourny
Post by: the other c300 barnes on March 21, 2010, 03:03:47 AM: Last night at the 8:30 team event we watched a lot of Total Bedlams being used, ball was working great on the pattern. More Missions and Total Bedlams then any other ball used this year. Watched the new leaders play them and they shot 3200+ and their other team on their pair shot 3100+. Should be a fun year at nationals.

Post by: r534me on March 22, 2010, 04:04:56 AM: How is your total bedlam laid out? Mine is pin under at 2k with a hole at the P3 quadrant. At that grit it eats through carry down. It might be too strong for the National pattern.

Post by: the other c300 barnes on March 22, 2010, 05:17:15 AM: They are Totals because you can see the purple in them, they are using them everywhere depending on styles and revs. I watched a guy shooting strong inside 4th arrow to about 12 and strokers playing 12 to about 8. Shot seems a little more open then in past years.

Post by: r534me on March 29, 2010, 04:30:48 AM: Used my TB for a set and due to operator error didn't have a lot of success. Pulled it out for the last game of singles and I was about to open it up a little. I was standing 20 hitting between second and third arrow hitting the rangefinder around 10. I was able to fill 29 pins in the 10th with it for a whopping 214(two pure shots and one half 7). I missed a 6 pin in the second frame. The TB grabs in the midlane and has a nice strong arc to the pocket. This was on the high side, lanes 65 and 66.

Unfortunately, I like the look so much I'll likely use it again next year. That means no sales for C300. Well, that's too early to say for sure.

A fellow bowler on the companion team was using a fresh pin down Mission OOB and it was over under on the fresh. He is right handed and a high rev bowler with medium speed. Get it in split or crossover...go a little wide washout or worse. It was not a pretty sight.

I've heard Mo Pinel say the cover on the Mission isn't very strong, but I was curious how strong it was compared to the Total Bedlam since both seem to be beasts at least on house shots.

I can only tell you the TB is smooth and continuous, and it out hooks my T-Road Solid by about three boards on the back end on the same conditions I've used them on. Mostly, it's been long patterns with dirty backends. The TRS will just stop after it making it's break while the TB will keep on driving. To sum it up..the TB is pretty rolly.

Post by: Tap It or Hit It Hard on April 05, 2010, 02:20:00 PM: So I've been hearing that you should have controlled drillings on your ball for the fresh pattern for team events. Now what kind of drilling would you guys recommend for this ball or pretty much any ball. Something like pin up and to the right of the ring finger and mass bias close to the thumb on the right side....for a right hander. Or something pin down? I'm trying to get an arsenal ready for the open.

Can anyone shed some light on how the total bedlam could be drilled. I'm a high track player with revs between 375-400.

I have a hole in the P3 quad to start it up just a little earlier. It's a pin down drilling and the MB is like two inches out.

Your layouts are close to what I usually use, what are your stats in terms of revs and ball speed, and do you have any video?

Post by: r534me on April 05, 2010, 11:11:54 PM: unfortunately, the only video I have is outdated in terms of speed and release, and right now my camera lens won't retract and as a result it just shuts off.

I don't know what my rev rate but I am about 16.5 - 17 mph at the pins. My pap is 5 1/8 up and 1 1/8 over or something like that, and my release is inside out. One day I'll tape myself using a ball with tape and slow motion it to estimate the rev rate(assuming I have any money for a digital video camera!).

Post by: r534me on April 19, 2010, 10:11:40 PM: Here''s two pics of my Total Bedlam. One of them is the drilling and the other is the oil on the ball after one shot today. The pattern was the National Shot and then Kegel Route 66 ran over it. I am on the left side so it was fresh. At 2k the ball barely made the pocket. I hit it with a 1k pad and roll up hard into the pocket. There were 14 flare rings on the ball and it measured somewhere around 7 inches. I was able to take a picture before all of the oil absorbed into the ball.
