Pure Swing - 1st night
« on: April 15, 2010, 12:19:19 AM »
I am a self professed ball junkie. I love getting new equipment and I am always excited to throw something the first time. I just got the Pure Swing a week and half ago and got the chance to throw it last night for the first time in the spring league. I had thrown a demo Pure Swing in late February at an Ebonite demo, and that convinced me this was a ball that I had to have.

The ball I got had a shorter pin, but since I planned on a pin under bridge drilling I was fine with that. The mb on the ball is kicked out to a strong position and there was not a need for a weight hole. First let me say the ball is everything I hoped for and more. Ok it is a pearl: so it gets down the lane very well. But it is what happens later down lane that really impresses me. The ball has a really nice move to the pocket, nice break, very controllable and easy to read. When this ball heads left there is no quit. It has phenomenal continuation and along with that comes carry that stands out. The Tour Finish that the ball is given in the factory gives the ball the forgiveness that most of us want and need. I could make a slight mistake and I felt like I would not only find the pocket, but carry also. The result was a great night for me. My second highest series ever and two award scores. I had great confidence in the ball and for me that is the most important thing. I cannot wait until next week.

What was your series if you don''t mind me asking? Your first time on league turned out better than mines with the pure swing.  On monday during league, I was hitting the pocket up and down and I was leaving pins like the 4, 9, 10 and even freaking splits.  You talking about somebody was so pissed especially after bowling some good games during practice with it already.  As of right now, I''m considering adding some polish in hopes it will help.  Right now my ball has 1oz. thumb and side weight.  I can honestly admit you are definitely right about one thing, this ball has a hell of a continuation when hitting the pocket.  Don''t get me wrong I like what I was able to do during practice with the pure swing, but I have yet to show it on league.

Great bowling man!  What is your average? How are the lanes oiled where you bowl at?  How did you play the lanes that night?

Where I'm bowling at they just started this red, white, and blue oil pattern stuff with the THS on Monday and they supposely laid down the blue pattern.  It was the first for everybody on my league and a lot of us with the higher averages were struggling.  Currently, I'm carrying a 205 avg.

The lanes are house shot oiled to about 40 feet. With the legnth that this ball gets and the fresh shot I started standing at a board left of center and throwing it to 10. By the end of the third game I had moved 2-2, and I was little pumped so I know was throwing it a bit harder. The key is this ball responded so well to the changes I made. I kept its energy through the night and hit so hard. My average it this house is usually 225-230.
