EPX-T1 Sighting in League (My observations & Review)
« on: October 05, 2005, 04:47:35 AM »
There was an EPX T1 sighting in last night.
First time I saw the ball in action.

Stats on the bowler (17 mph ball speed average at the pindeck)
Medium Track
Mild Cranker / (lots of wrist action and comes kind over over the side of the ball)

Lanes are synthetic.
Medium-Heavy on the inside and tapered to the outside boards
Felt kind of like a Top Hat type of condition.
Backends were semi-clean with some carrydown
Extreme outside boards seemed pretty dry (Outside of 5)

He was starting the ball anywhere around the 15 to about the 5 and the ball was coming back pretty strong.
With his strong rev-rate and speed, the pins were dancing around like dandalions in the wind (ok bad analogy hehe)
Great pin action and the ball had nice drive through the pins.
He didn't seem to change lines and stayed anywhere inside of 15 the whole night.

He shot a High 250+ game in the first game
2nd game he shot I think a 180+
Last game I think was a low 200 or High 190

This was his first time throwing the ball. This house usually has a heavier concentration of oil in the middle, but is a tad drier on the outside boards. This gives the impression that the house is walled, but is actually is not. Lots of carrydown at this house from my experiences so far.

In comparison to my Rule Delta 1, I was playing about 5 boards right of where he was and hitting the pocket (In my opinion he has more hand). He seemed to have more room to wheel the ball, but during the 2nd & 3rd game he wasn't getting the results like he did the first game. He also mentioned that the ball smelled pretty bad hehe.

The ball seemed to soak up oil and it was prominent on his Track.
I think he will be using this ball on a weekly basis so I will keep you all posted. He's pretty stoked. As a high-end tweener like myself, I'd like to see what this ball does for this powerplayer. What an experiment ball this is. Seems like everyone is looking at this ball through a microscope, kinda like what I'm doing with this review!

Will also try to update you guys whether or not this ball holds up (coverstock, cracking, etc.)

Interesting layout on this ball though...

Great review Ram.

That type of layout is very simple. Ball probably has a good
amount of finger weight so it wil help the ball get down the
lane. Mike should do well with that ball. With the oil he
experience the week before, he needed something a little
more aggressive.

Keep us posted.

ball always starts out good....but after awhile you start to lose carry...and no adjustment works....more speed, less speed, target closer, longer, further in/out, move up or back on approach, finger spread, pinkie tuck, changing rolls, behind the ball, side of ball, 3/4 roll, cup wrist, uncup wrist, more direct, more swing, ALL OF THE ABOVE.....NOTHING WORKS....it's a sweet ball early...esp. on tough shots,  but the carry just evaporates after 15 frames or so...

Watch the movie on Columbia's website...it will explain what comes to the surface and why.
