Violent Eruption vs. Eruption
« on: April 21, 2013, 09:30:58 PM »
Hello,

I currently have a Columbia 300 Eruption that I have drilled pin above the middle finger at OOB finish. I am looking for purchasing a Columbia 300 Violent Eruption to go between my Eruption and a Roto Grip Disturbed drilled above the ring that I have polished (1500 polished). I was thinking about drilling a Violent Eruption with the pin above the ring with no weight hole.

Any opinions on this? Thanks ahead of time

I have a Violent and from what I have seen, it reads the midlane a little better than the Eruption.  My suggestion though, is to take off the factory finish and redo the cover.  When I drilled mine, even with my rev rate, the ball was still squirty.  Once I knocked off the polish with a fresh 1000 pad and took it back to 2000 and applied Rough Buff instead of Factory Finish Polish, the ball rolled absolutely amazing.  It still gets through the heads pretty clean.  But the transition through the 3 different phases was way better than what it was out of the box.  The Violent is probably my favorite ball right now because my carry percentage is high from anywhere on the lane.

55 x 5 x 50 with a smaill weight hole in P3.  I use 16lb and the diff is only .035.  I did not want this ball to be a skid/flip over/under ball.  I wanted to be able to use this on more than just a league shot.  So that is the reason for the surface change and the P3 hole.  The ball is still pretty angular but for my rev rate, it makes it more controllable and thus able to use it for long periods of time.  As I mentioned before, I can carry just as well from 5th arrow as I can playing up the track simply because I have taken some of the flippiness out of the backend.
