What did polishing the Action do for you!?
« on: March 12, 2006, 03:34:47 PM »
Im just wondering about this. I have Pepsi Saturday. The shot has a little more oil than usual. Thing is, I have an Original Chaos. I thought about grabbing that ball and sanding it to 800, possibly 600. Once I see that burn up, then I could pull my Action out. If I were to polish the Action, how would it roll? How did it roll for you?

The Action OOB is 1200 grit, so its already pretty smooth to begin with. At that grit it should already be less agressive up front than a 600 gril Chaos which is particle.

Polishing the Action OOB will make it clear the heads even faster and may diminsh some of its mid-lane read, leaving the ball trying real hard to turn on the backend which with its low RG core, it's really not designed to turn hard on the backend. It's made to rev early , strong midlane and continuous backend, but not hard backend.

I'd try taking the ball up to 2000 grit , but not polishing it. That will allow the ball to maintain its mid-lane read and smooth out the burn that you might see with a 600 or 800 grit ball.

I've tried my Actions polished and dull, I like the reaction with the dull cover better. Polished they seem (for me) to just not hook enough and the ball doesn't read the backend the way any number of other balls do. Why would I use a ball made for oil to try and get some backend. Might as well pull out my U-Turn or Action Packed.

The best way is through trial and error. Try it our polished early in the week and see how it works. If you don't like it, you can always adjust it before you bowl Saturday. Good luck either way....
