Look at the drilling on my Wrath XP
« on: January 30, 2007, 01:17:06 AM »
I got this ball used, and just plugged and moved the thumb.  What should this layout do to the ball?  I believe it was used by a PBA regional player for a couple of games before I got a hold of it.  Here are the pics of the layout:

Mr. Lebowski, this is Bill Salnicker with the Southern Cal Bowling League, and I just got a, an informal report, that a member of your team, uh, Walter Sobchak, drew a firearm during league play. If this is true of course, it contravenes a number of the league's by-laws, and article 27 of the league...

What was the former PAP? It is all relative - I had a TPC Shooter from Ebay with a similar drilling, with a very high balance hole. I suppose it belonged to a low track player before, and for him it was a stacked leverage drilling. For me, with much higher track, the ball would rather arc, very nice for medium-dry conditions. I guess this is the same case here?

Pending on how you bowl and what type of condition and surface you bowl on will dictate how this ball and drill will perform.  If you have a average to higher ball speed with average rev rate and bowling on a fresh shot you should be fine.  If you have a slow ball speed and bowling on a dry shot this ball or layout will not match up to well.  I know this is kind of vague but I think you get the idea.  Thanks and good luck.

I intended to try this ball on a heavier, fresh shot.  I assume it would get into a roll fairly early, with the pin so far down, but I wasn't sure what the balance hole would do.  I suppose I would have to try to measure the present drill in relation to my PAP to find exacts.

Oh, and I would consider myself to have average ball speed (16 or so?) and medium to lower revs.

With that speed and rev rate this ball and drill should be very stong for you.  If your bowling on a heavy pattern you should like the results.

Well looking at the layout done on this ball is close of the layout done too both my Wrath and Action Max.  The low balance hole looks too be placed at a direct line from mid grip to roughly 3 1/2 inches over through the CG.  This will help increase the back end reaction plus help make it legal as there was probably plenty of thumb weight with pin down.  I have really enjoyed both the Wrath and Max since drilling them up in the last 2 weeks.  The Wrath is used on a medium heavy frest 45 ft house shot(laneshield) usually playing 15-8 too start the night and ending 20-10 ball is very clean in the front to a strong roll through the midlane and hard snap off the dry.  The XP may be alot stronger in the mid lane being the cover is stronger then the Wrath and also Dull cover.  As JJ said with the lower ball speed this will be strong.  I am considered a rev dominate player.  Hope this helps
