In my opinion, it depends on the style of the bowler.  Bowlers with higher speed and/or lower rev rates probably won't see enough difference to carry both balls in an arsenal of four or less.  Everyone else should have a need for both balls, with the Violent Eruption handling a bit more volume and being a bit sharper at the breakpoint.
