Original Orange Messenger - What's new that compares?
« on: January 18, 2004, 09:11:46 PM »
I have an old orange Messenger, the original.  Here is a link to a picture if you would like to see one: http://www.ryboflavin.com/images/bowling/bowling-equipment/messenger.jpg

I would like to get something new that is very similar to this ball.  I believe it had a teardrop core, with a puck on the small end, and it is a pearlized coverstock.

Does Columbia have anything similiar to this now?

Columbia lists the Cherry Pearl Messenger as being a 'retired ball'.  See here: http://www.columbia300.com/gear/balls.cfm?bid=71

Is there anything currently made that would be similar to either of these?  What about the Jekyl or Hyde?...the cores seem to look similar.

i used to have an orange a long time ago but now i have a wild r/g/r that reacts similar to me. i have a used one on ebay and the bids are still pretty low (cheapest way to experiment!) http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3655164180&category=36105&sspagename=STRK%3AMESSE%3AIT&rd=1

Try the spirit 2,  same core.  Haven,t thrown it but I believe it would be close and the price is right.

I noticed that the core in the Spirit 2 is almost identical to the Orange Messenger, but the light particle coverstock will bite up a little early for what I am looking for.

Yes, that sounds like the closest thing currently available.  Maybe I'll win the auction.
