Title: World Beater VS. Taboo
Post by: fejman1023 on January 07, 2011, 11:59:25 AM
I need a new ball and narrowed it down to a few. The Taboo, World Beater and the Pure Physics. I am a Tweener and am looking for a solid cover stock for Medium Oily conditions. I could really use some help.
Thanks.

I would guess that any of the three listed would be too much ball for medium conditions. Are they not all quite strong core/cover combinations? How about a Grind or Freeze?

I actually am looking for something for a more oilier condition. I don't know why I said medium. I need a stronger ball, I am getting into some tournaments, and need a more diversified arsenal.

Then you are probably on the right track with one of those three. Although I have not thrown any of the three, I like the looks of the Taboo. The gas-mask core has been very good since the first use in the big blue pearl. The Taboo cover seems strong, but smooth. If you want a little more angular, maybe the Swagga?

I have a pure physics and do not really care for the ball; although it can handle oil it lacks the hitting power I wanted. I would say given the success of the taboo that would be the choice.

My favorite solid ball for playing on medium to heavy oil is my track 505t. The ball is very versatile and never lacks hitting power.

Not to mention, very reasonably priced! The 5 series are the best value on the market in my opinion.

505T with surface 1000/2000ab handles oil great! But the 715T is a better oiler and a GREAT ball for the price!

I can comment on this topic about Taboo Vs World Beater because I was in a tournament this weekend that had a ton of oil on the lanes; The 2011 King Pin tournament in Goldsboro, NC. Might I also add it was by far the hardest lane conditions I've face since being back only 1 year. There were a lot of people throwing the Taboo's and there were also some people throwing World Beater's including myself. There was a guy with as much hand as I have and we were playing better much in the same area of the lane at the arrows but the back ends were different. I looked at the Taboo layout that was on my lane and it was exactly like mines. The layout is pin down under the middle finger but closer to the bridge and MB kicked out at about 45 degrees. The World Beater reads the front and mid-lane stronger and faster than the Taboo but the Taboo was stronger on the back end coming off the spot, while the World Beater is a bit more smoother. So traveling down the lane the World Beater is probably 3 boards more stronger in the mid lane and the Taboo is probably 3 boards stronger on the back end; I would say the Taboo reads the back end earlier than the World Beater by probably 1.5 feet sooner. Both are great heavy oil balls IMHO for what I've seen this weekend.
Now for people with hand, the Taboo and World Beater is way too strong for your THS and the USBC red, white and blue oil patterns. This ball for me will only come out of the bag when I go to tournaments.
2010 is the first time joining a league since 1999. Over a 10 year lay off and I haven't lost much of my game.

Excellent post sir...If one wants to see a little more reaction later, Taboo it is, if one wants to see a smoother reaction, World Beater it is...
It's nice to see that Hammer and Columbia have two new models that actually perform a little different...

Great feedback. I just wanted to note; I have been throwing the World Beater/Outburst/Burst combo. Since I moved to this combo I have been averaging 214 over the last 7 weeks. My average has jumped from a 186 to a 193 in that time. I cannot be more pleased.
Thanks again for all of the help.
It could always be something else.... but It Is what It Is.
