Extreme Chaos box finish ?
« on: June 29, 2003, 12:35:48 AM »
Hello, i have an Extreme Chaos that is in box finish right now.  this ball is almost brand new and it has about 50 games on it i'd say.  i am starting to see some small signs of the tec death.  I'm going to try to save it before it gets too far down that i have to bake the dang ball.  im going to use a scotch brite pad and then maybe some of Doc's magic bowling ball elixir.  but #1 im not sure what the original box finish on it is.  think its like 1000 grit? and then i don't know what color of Scotch brite to use.  thanks for the help

If I'm not mistaken,
it was 600 sanded.
The more I practice,the luckier I get.

Alright thanks.  and this will be my first time resurfacing with scotch brite so since the box finish is 600 wet sand does that mean i should scuff it up with the green pad being wet or does it matter with scotch brite?

Water helps keep the coverstock particles from flooding the air you breathe, always a safe bet to reduce beathing in this stuff. I'm sure husky was just saying that green Scotch-Brite is considered to be 600 grit; I assume he was not necessarily telling you to use it. It is more convenient to use than silicon-carbide wet/dry sandpaper. If you are used to sandpaper, it makes little difference to the ball. Use what's easiest and what you're most familiar with. Learn both, eventually, for your own experience and knowledge.

Personally, I am surprised that the EC had a stock 600 grit finish, given its reputation for very easy length. 600 grit is very dull in this day and age.
