Rico Drill on a Big Shot

Has anyone tried a Rico Drill on a Big Shot? If so what kind of reaction did you get?

My Big shot is very tempermental to friction. On clean back ends it is a monster. On tight lanes or lanes without a defined dry spot, it tends to skate too much and not flip. Therefore I would not attempt a rico, because I feel the ball needs help on the back end. I would go long pin/high pin. With that drill, the ball plays very well. Just my 2cents.

We tried a Rico drill on my friends Big Shot.  Really controllable, but lacks any hitting power, or movement really.  almost reminds me of an old urethane just worse carry.  He has a fairly high rev rate, around 400.  and My rev rate is around 325.  both of us roll the ball around 17 on average.  and we both have real similar drill specs, so we both have tried the ball and neither of us really like that ball.

I just drilled up a big shot for myself and drilled it Pin the the right of ring, with the CG stacked straight below.  Ball rolls much better than the Rico drill on most shots so far.  Have not rolled on a sport shot with it yet.  But if you were to have a choice I would not lay it out Rico,  I really am not impressed with the Rico drill on this particular ball.

Thanks for your replies. I have another Big Shot drilled with the pin above & between the fingers it works for medium & medium light patterns with fairly dry backends. I was looking for an earlier roll with more continuation in the back ends.

you've got it wrong, I believe. That is EXACTLY why you would try a RICO type of drill. It makes a ball more even reacting and, in general, more early reacting, adding smoothness to the ball's basic reaction.

FYI you can also just change the surface slightly (since its basic surface is 4000 grit matte, a wealth of potential surfaces can be tried) to make it do almost anything you'd like.
