What about this (colored star next to the user name in posts):

Green Star = 100 post count
Bronze Star = 500 post count
Gold Star = 1000 post count
Platinum Star = 2500+ post count

I think it would be a good idea to incorporate some sort of system to reward the long-standing members that contribute on a daily (weekly) basis.

Yeah, how very true.

Eh, I don't think it's a good idea.  That would give new users the impression that I'm one of the best posters, and that's definitely NOT close to the truth at all.  Most of the "great" posters have about 1000 posts.

Consider all the ramifications of the work invovled for ALL parties and the websmaster and the utility of what the final result will be (NOT what you want it to be).

I see tons of work and little meaningful results.
