Not happy with new changes
« on: April 28, 2012, 08:45:24 AM »
It probably has already been said, but I really dislike the new changes. It
is very hard to read and scan through topics I'm inteerested in.  :P

Yea, we need to rewrite the help for the new system. To add a picture select "forum profile" from the profile dropdown (located underneath the "Show new replies to your post" and date info at the top of the screen). From there, select "Upload an avatar" in the personalized picture section.

I'd personally like to de-emphasize the wanted/for sale posts seen on the front page and the "show unread posts since your last visit" link since for now it's only sorted by time.  A great majority of the wanted/for sale posts are just endless bumps of existing posts anyway.  Just as the miscellaneous non-bowling forums isn't for everyone, I believe the wanted/for sale forum should be treated the same.  People looking to buy and sell know where to look; it shouldn't be 80% of my most recent posts.

Those shouldn't be showing up on the front page. It should be much easier to read through once we bring back the sorting by board for the "unread posts" page.

Yeah, if they have the room, doubling the Latest Forum Posts would be okay.

As for the ball reviews, don't forget what the name of this site is.  : )

Hey BR Tech - Would you consider doubling the size ot the "Latest Forum Posts" on the main screen?  It seems too small IMHO.

The Ball Reviews get updated so infrequently yet they take up a huge portion of the screen.   And, anybody iterested in a ball review can easily search the site for what they want..

Thanks
MK

So what do you guys mean by doubling the size? Are you saying the text is too small or that you'd like to see twice as many posts shown there?

I think what they mean is seeing twice as many posts shown down there. It is way to small for the size of the page. It only gives you a very small sample of what is going on in BR.

Yes, that is what I meant by doubling (twice as many).  I don't know if that is what the original requester meant.

And, since it has already been implemented, thanks.

Do me a favor and just send out a mass email to the members once you have the quirks worked out. My main gripe is that the newest posts aren't organized by category. I don't want to wade through hundreds of for sale posts in order to get to one relevant topic.

Well, we need users to try thing to see what works and what doesn't.  The more people who try things and make suggestions, the sooner things will be better.

Looks like the "block user" function is missing (or maybe my browser is acting goofy?) and I would have liked to have seen a "block thread" function because som get so ridiculous they hurt my brain  by their mere existence. Otherwise, it is what it is.

Thanks! -- Ken

The block user function is still there but it is "unwieldy" at best. You can get to it by going to your profile and in the "Modify Profile" dropdown select "Edit Ignore List" from "Buddies/Ignore List...". Clearly this isn't nearly as simple as just clicking a button on a post so I'll be looking to add that functionality.

The way the new posts on the forum work sucks!  It was nicer when the new posts were still by category, not in time order.... Makes it harder to see what you are looking for.....not crazy about any of the changes at all...
2.  I would like to see the new posts grouped by category like in the past.
Thanks.  Please recreate the unread posts sorted by category!!!  I'm looking forward to the search being back.

Unread posts are now sorted first by category/board, then by whatever sort method you select (defaults to most recent).

I like it better now that they have added categories for  forum comments.
