What happened to the non-bowling/non-moderated board?
« on: January 21, 2015, 11:58:58 AM »
Some of you are probably wondering what the heck happened to the "non-moderated" tag on this board.

After much discussion, the moderators have decided that the "non-moderated" board should be shut down. We are simply tired of trying to decide what is/isn't worthy of moderation (yes, the board said "non-moderated" but anyone who read the sticky at the top knew we reserved the right to moderate in some cases). Most threads in that board had simply devolved into personal attacks and fights between different users. We don't want that to be who we are as a site so, while we don't like losing a part of our site, this decision was made.

It seems we are still here and posting...I don't know where...but we are still here...see pike...that's why I always use xxxx

::)  YSomehow, I don't think yours or anyone's cuss words red x or no red x had any bearing on their decision to kick the forum to the curb.  But keep telling yourself that those red xx made your words any less offensive than they were.  It was the personal attacks, like the author of this thread said... swear words or not.

A final straw must have broke the camel's back... Big part, I believe it was as stated by the author, the babysitting the mods felt they had to do with all of the complaints recently w/folks "wanting their board back" & them seeing all of the personal garbage being slung back n forth... Instead of some just leaving well enough alone...  So be careful what you wish for sometimes, ya just might get it... for everyone.

Oh well, I respect their decision.  It is what it is.  Was a fun group of characters, even w/the disagreements, that's for sure.  Maybe will see some of you in the bowling forums.

Wow, just got back from bowling and saw this topic.  Have to go read it now, maybe comment more later.  But, I have to say that I am not really all that surprised.  There was a lot of personal attacks going on in there and I suspect, a lot of complaining to the mods so they must have felt they had to do something but I would not have thought this would be the result.

I'm just shy of my 13th year on BR.  When I bowled, I posted on both the Misc Non-bowling forum and the Bowling forum.  I stopped bowling 4 years ago, but I'd made connections on this site that I wasn't willing to just walk away from.  I consider the people here my distant friends, even though most of us have never met face to face.

Once I left bowling, I had no reason to visit the ball boards or the bowling forum, so I just lingered on the Misc Non-bowling forum.  I guess that whole thing has been kicked to the curb.

Thanks for the warning, guys.  I appreciate the kick in the nuts.

I love "Dust in the Wind", was this meant for our posts being "farts in the wind"? ???

Could be.  One man's dust is another's gas, or something like that.   ;)

My guess is the posting of personal information of another user by a current member on behalf of a banned member was the last straw.  The personal information posting or threat of it was the capital offense that the mods would not abide.  They stepped over the line of forum decorum.  That's what I was told by the mods.  Cest la vie.

If you're so gutless as to hide behind the ignore button while taking shots at people....why are you even here?

I was a member of e-teamz before it became Ball Reviews. I posted mainly in the other forums, never in the un-moderated, just liked to read all the nonsense going on.It's like you've lost a pet or something like that.

Thanx a bunch, Jorge. It's been a terrific ride from the ETeamz days right on thru. Since I'm pretty sure they will not allow this thread to continue much longer I want to you I hope everything goes well for you and the loved ones.  Best wishes in everything you do.

Same goes for everyone else here. Best wishes to all.

There a lot of people I met through the Misc. Non-Bowling board that I am going to miss interacting with. Some others, not so much. But I would vote for bringing the board back in some form. Allow some of the saltly language that isn't allowed in the bowling boards, just outlaw any personal attacks. Give everyone a warning if they break that rule once, and ban them if they break it again within a certain time frame. This will allow for some disagreements, without the continued personal attacks that the board descended to. It will force people to move on from arguements and stop bringing things up over and over again.

If not, I hope all those who I have conversed with in public and private will continue to be well. Greg T, I hope this isn't the last time I get to converse with you, but if it is, it has been an honor to get to know you a little and I wish you and your family nothing but the best in the future.
