The Primal is still in box finish, although I have used motiv's gel polish. The reaction is a big jump off the friction, and both houses are what I would call pretty dry, considering that both were pretty close to a medium condition last year.
Then the first thing I would do depends on how jumpy the ball is.
1. If it' s just slightly jumpy, try to remove some of the shine by hand with a damp/wet 4000 grit pad or a light grey Scotch-Brite pad.
2. If it's very jumpy, go all the way and resurface the ball to a 4000 grit and leave it matte or dull. DO this by first bringing it to true 2000 grit, then apply the 4000 grit pad.
If by some chance it's still too jumpy at 4000 grit, take it to the next rougher step, either 2000 or 3000 grit. Keep in mind that, while the 4000 grit should handle the same amount of oil as the polished surface, it will be smoother (hook slightly earlier, with less backend). Once you go to 2000 or 3000 grit matte/dull, unless you have firm or higher ball speed, the ball will now require slightly more oil and/or you'll need to move deeper to retain kinetic energy.
