I am not unfamiliar with coverstock preparation, but I don't quite follow what they are doing when they put this finish on the ball.... 800/800/1000/1000 + Polish....

Heard the 800 Grit is Abranet and the 1000 Grit is Abralon.

Seen this advertised on one of new Hammer releases. What they doing to sanding the ball with 800 Abranet two cycles on the surface machines they use at the factory, then twice with 1000 Abralon and a coat of polish.

Think they''re trying to provide alot of information on how to duplicate the Out of Box Surface.

JMO, bit I''d probably just sanding this like normal. I''m not rushing out to buy 800 Grit Abranet or Paper. For me that mean 500/1000 or Scuff Pads and finish with 1000... and polish.

I think the abranet has lots and lots of tiny holes in it, meaning it will not clog easily (with or without water... but I know they use lots of water/lubrication). So I'm assuming that this will help them use the pads for a much longer time. then they hit it with the final surface and polish it.

I find it interesting that they are going to 1000 polished when they never released a ball at 2000 polished. makes you think.
