Prepping coverstocks for Nationals

I'm headed to Vegas this weekend for Nationals and will be tweaking the coverstock on the balls.  I'm mulling over the finishes I'll be putting on my arsenal and I wanted to get some feedback if I go with the following choices.

I'm bringing the Cell solid for fresh lane conditions and debating on dulling the surface to 1000 abralon with Rough Buff.

As lanes break down, I'm planning to use either my RotoGrip Saga or Storm HyRoad at 1000 abralon with Snake Oil.

As lanes dry out, I plan to throw my Neptune at OOB finish.

Just wanted to solicit some opinions from you guys as to whether these are good choices.

good selection i would go with the hy-road over the saga nothing handles dry lane like a neptune. i have 6 dry lane balls the only ones i still use is neptune and morich sahara. good luck.

Bring a spare ball, or have one drilled down there and ship it back. Spare shooting can be the difference in cashing and moving on in a bracket. If a buddy has an open spot in bag, than have them take it.

Four ball arsenal for Nationals:

Brand new Mega Friction 4 X 4 (bOx)
Bounty (polished at 4000) 4 X 4
AMF Code - Polished 5 X 3 Drilling
Lane #1 Blue Diamond

Nothing Else needed !

Thanks guys, I am planning to bring my plastic spare ball.  I've been practicing entire games throwing the spare ball straight for specific pins and actually as a strike ball.  It's helping me improve my accuracy & I'm hoping it pays dividends next week.  I'm a little torn between the Saga & HyRoad because they both suit my game so well it'll probably come down to a last minute decision between those 2 balls.  Appreciate all the feedback.

Lane, do you the Saga or HyRoad taken to abralon 2000 minus polish or omitting the Neptune then?

With those 4 balls to choose from I'd go this way:

Cell at 2000 abralon

Saga at 4000 abralon

Hy-Road as you suggested

Neptune at 4000 abralon

The Saga, HyRoad, and Neptune should be easy to get down the lane due to the volume of oil typically on the lanes. Too dull and the ball is slow to respond to friction, but too shiny and you'd better be very accurate.

Having said that, we don't even know what this year's oil pattern looks like yet. I'm just going on past experiences, where oil has not been hard to find at all...

Change the coverstock to 2000 ab on the Neptune 4000 ab on the Neptune will make the ball go to long and hit the pins like fudge.             .

Spence - if you still have some Resurrection, try the saga or the Neptune with that surface. Resurrection will allow the bowling ball to skate in the front, grab just enough in the oil but still have a smooth backend.

definitely go out and play around with the surfaces before you leave. Most people think they need 180 grit ball but it's mental.

Hey Kevin, thanks for the recommendation.  I still have some Resurrection.  I'll hit both the Saga & Neptune with hit and try it out tomorrow night during my league night.  Btw, I'm loving the products you guys are putting out there it's all great stuff and your videos are a great primer on how to go about getting the most out of spinner.

Not knowing your stats makes it difficult. Either way I went with some guys with a ton of hand and the Cell at 1000 abralon was the ball of choice for team event. Even if it wasn't a cell, 1000 was good. Here's what I used and it was pretty damn good.

Cell 5x5 Pin Up 1000 abralon
Global 900 Break Pearl Rico Drilled, 2000 w factory polish
Roto Grip Pluto 5x4 Pin Up 4000 no polish
Roto Grip neptune 6x4 Pin up 4000 w factory
Visionary Blue Gargoyle 5x3 2000 w/ beans secret sauce

The one mistake I made was not taking a spare ball. I thought Id use my Gargoyle but that cost me a TON of pins overall. My Cell would have been better with a low pin and maybe a 4x4 instead but that's the past.
