Abralon Pads
« on: August 11, 2004, 05:26:28 PM »
Looking for some info on ebonites abralon pads. What I am looking for is they say 500 grit, 1000grit, 2000grit. Is this the actual finished grit when the final sanding is complete and how do they compare to scotchbrite pads as in are they different in any way as far as types of balls you can use them on etc. I know this should seem real self explanitory but I have never had any dealings with them and I am about to resurface a ball for someone that wants it to be in out of box surface and that surface was done with these pads. Thanks for any help you can provide.

We use Abralon pads in all of our shops in San Diego and you treat them just like sand paper. They really give you a very even, uniformed sanding and you can completely resurface a ball with the pads. You can use these pads on any type of ball you want.

1. Where do you buy them?

2. Do thay leave sanding lines like both Scotch Brite Pads and 3M Wet-Dry Sandpaper does?

These Abralon pads seem pretty expensive.  Do they last a long time when used for bowling ball polishing?  Are they superior in some way to Scotch-Brite pads?

I notice that they do give you grit options not available in Scotch-Brite pads.
