Abralon grit rating
« on: May 02, 2006, 10:45:06 AM »
Is the grit rating of Abralon directly comparable to the same grit rating for sandpaper and Scotchbrite?  As an example, would 1000 Abralon be the same as 1000 Scotchbrite and 1000 sandpaper?  I had asked my pro-shop to freshen up my Phenom Unleashed so it was at the original oob surface which is 1500 smooth.  When I picked it up, he said that it was now at 2000 Abralon, and now it kind of looks a little too shiny (but not a polished look) to me.  Never tried Abralon before, so I'm not sure how it compares.  What sort of ball reaction can I expect from 2000 Abralon?  Before I take a Scotchbrite to it, I thought I'd ask.  Thanks.

grit is one measure of abrasiveness. Whether it's Abralon, Scotch-Brite nylon pads or any one of the sandpaper (silicon-carbide is the abrasive on the wet/dry black sandpaper, just as it is on Abralon.)
